Notre Dame 4th graders finish strong at VEX IQ competition in Auburn Hills.
At the RoboJackets/NRGYF Ringmaster IQ Qualifying Event, part of the national VEX IQ Challenge competition, which was held at Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, Notre Dame 4th graders Andrew Chang, Augustin Villajuan, Lucas DiGrande and Sami Khouri earned two awards.
The boys' team, which they call, "The Lord of the Rings, won the STEM Award for their research presentation on "Microbots in Medicine" and the Skills Award for their programming and driving-skills challenge.
The team is now ranked #2 in Michigan's VEX IQ elementary division. Saturday's event featured judging in Excellence, Design and STEM, and qualified three spots to the IQ State Championship (1=Excellence; 2=Champions).
