Congratulations to the Notre Dame student-musicians who performed at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 4 Solo & Ensemble Festival on January 14 at Brighton High School. Out of the 28 NDP students, 12 were selected to perform at the State Solo & Ensemble Festival to be held Saturday, March 18, at Stoney Creek High School.
The MSBOA Solo & Ensemble Festival is an excellent opportunity for individual students to perform a prepared piece of music for a judge and receive a rating from 1 to 5, with 1 being the highest. To be eligible for the state level, students must have earned a Division 1, or “superior" rating, at the district level. Soloists in grades 10 through 12 also must perform proficiency exams, which include scales and sight reading at the state festival.
