Borrowing items through MelCat

Have you ever wanted to borrow a book from the library and found out that the library didn't own the book? Thanks to the Michigan Electronic Library (MEL), now you can borrow it from libraries across the state.  MelCat (Michigan Electronic Library Catalog) is a compilation of library catalogs from hundreds of libraries across the state of Michigan. It allows library users to order a book, audiobook, DVD, or CD from a library as far away as Iron Mountain, in the Upper Peninsula, or from right down the street at the Rochester Hills Public Library. The St. Peter Chanel Media Center offers this service to students, faculty, and staff!

How does it work?

Start here: MelCat

Enter a search term in the search box and click on the search button.

Click "Get this from MelCat" to select the item you want to order.

Choose "Notre Dame Preparatory and Marist Academy" from the drop down menu. Enter your name in the name box and enter your barcode number (from your ID) into the library card number field. Next click submit.

Your request is sent to a library with the item available. That library will send the item to our library, and Ms Rochon or Mr. Palizzi will email you when your item is ready for pick up.
