2015 All-County team loaded with heavy hitters

The pendulum of dominance in high school softball swung from pitchers to hitters when the pitching rubber was moved back three feet four years ago, and the 2015 season was evident that it might not swing back to pitchers anytime soon. Texas Rangers Select NDP Pitcher Shilling

Notre Dame right handed pitcher Luke Shilling was selected in the 20th round (588th overall) by the Texas Rangers in the 2015 MLB draft.  Shilling joins Brother Rice outfielder Nick Plummer, who went 23rd overall to St. Louis, and Grant Wolfram from Hamilton High School as the only other Michigan high school players to be selected. Pontiac Notre Dame Prep senior pitcher Luke Shilling has been performing in the spotlight all season. Now, he has been rewarded with being named the Gatorade Player of the Year for baseball in Michigan. The annual award has been given out for over 30 years by Gatorade and USA Today, honoring the best athletes in each state and, eventually, the entire country in every sport.
