Volleyball Wins 10th Straight District Title

The Notre Dame Varsity Volleyball team took its 10th consecutive district title and 19th in the 23-year history of the program with a 25-18, 25-16, 25-10 sweep of Lutheran North.

The Irish, now 52-9-6, used a balanced attack to take down the Mustangs.  Gabby Shilling had an outstanding game hitting .500 with 11 kills and 3 blocks.  Natalie Risi led Notre Dame at the service line with 15 points, including 6 aces, to go along with 23 assists, 15 kills, and  a pair blocks.  Maddy Chinn had 6  service points, 12 kills and 9 digs while Maria Famularo chipped in 8 points and 11 digs.  Taylor Raiola had 5 points, 3 coming from aces, 11 kills, a team-high 5 blocks, and 12 digs.  Morgan Verheyen played well defensively slowing down multiple Mustang attacks at the net and coming up with 12 digs.

Notre Dame now advances to the Imlay City Regional where they will face the 2015 state runner-up North Branch.
