Swimmers Earn Best Finish in School History

The Notre Dame Boys Swim team placed 8th at the MHSAA Division III meet held at Eastern Michigan University, the highest team finish by any Notre Dame swim team in the history of the school. The 200 medley relay team of Rudy Aguilar, Carl Wacker, Peter McNelis, and Aidan Schurig started off the meet with a 4th place finish,  earning a time of 1:37.91. In the 50 freestyle, Aidan Schurig placed 2nd with a time of 21.39, finishing just .58 seconds behind the winner Nathan Hein from East Grand Rapids. The 100 freestyle also saw Aguilar earn a 2nd place finish of his own (46.10) while Schurig was not far off the place in 5th at 47.55. Notre Dame continued to rack up team points as the 200 freestyle relay of Schurig, McNelis, Thomas Robbins, and Aguilar placed in 8th at 1:29.74.  The final event for the Irish saw Aguilar post a 4th place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.97.  The Irish will lose seniors Schurig and McNelis to graduation while the rest of the team returns next season as Notre Dame attempts to top their best finish at the state meet in school history.
