Softball Opens Postseason With Win Over Armada

The Notre Dame Varsity Softball team improved to 24-12 on the season as they earned a 7-4 win over Armada in an MHSAA Pre-District game.

The Irish got on the board in the first inning as Maddy McClune scored on a sacrifice from winning pitcher Caley Gleason. Notre Dame would add another run in the bottom of the second inning as Paige Greenwell scored after an Anna Madison single. Armada came back with 3 runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead and the Tigers would add a solo homerun in the 3rd inning to go up 4-2. However, Notre Dame would score a pair of runs in both the 4th and 5th innings before plating an insurance run in the 7th inning to come away with the win.  Gleason finished the evening allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, striking out 6 and walking just 1.

The Irish have a tough task ahead as they take on #2 Richmond on Saturday in District play.
