The Notre Dame Girls Varsity Cross Country team finished in 6th at the Golden Grizzly High School Invitational on Friday. Senior Jenny Ohlsson, with a time of 15:02 for the 4K distance, won the race with a commanding performance from beginning to end. The nearest competitor was more than 30 seconds behind. This was Ohlsson's first win of the season and second of her career. Since this was a new course for the invitational, Ohlsson's time is a course record. Also scoring for the Irish were juniors Maddie Monaghan, Alli Dawiedczyk and sophomores Katie Heaman and Kate Stacey. First year runners Riley Williams (senior) and Nicole Carson (sophomore) were the top two finishers for the Irish in the Junior Varsity race.
The Boys team improved on last year’s performance by one spot with an 11th place finish. Junior Eli Seitzinger led the Irish with a 14:07, followed by juniors Nate Vogel, Adam Martin, senior Evan Wells and junior Eric Gaynor who ran a combined 2:32 faster than last year. Juniors Tommy Joppich and James Chabot ran well in their first Varsity race. Freshman Ben Kinkade was the top finisher for Notre Dame in the Junior Varsity race.
