The Notre Dame Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed in the Northern Michigan Championship at Michaywe Pines Golf Course in Gaylord, placing 8th and 17th respectively among the 29 teams competing.
Once again, the Girls were led by senior captain Jenny Ohlsson (19:10) who finished 7th overall among 210 athletes competing in the varsity race. Junior Maddie Monaghan (21:02) set another personal record as she continues to improve. Junior Lexi Fraser (21:57) had a solid performance in her first race back after a leg injury. Sophomore Tess Censoni (22:04) ran a season best and Allie Dawiedczyk (22:13) gutted out a strong performance despite struggling with shin splints. Sophomore Nicole Carson (22:22) set another personal record and senior Riley Williams (22:36) rounded out the Varsity team. Junior Mya Fromwiller and sophomores Kate Stacey and Katie Heaman will round out the championship roster as the team prepares for the upcoming regional competition at Linden High School on Saturday, October 26.
The Boys team was led by junior Eli Seitzinger (17:15), junior Adam Martin (18:18), senior Eric Gaynor (18:39), junior Nate Vogel (18:43) and junior Matthias Rangel (19:15). Rangel set a personal record in the race. Junior James Chabot (19:41) and senior Evan Wells (19:54) rounded out the varsity squad. Ben Pocius (19:36) set a personal record in the junior varsity race earning a spot on the team that will compete at regionals. Junior Tommy Joppich, and freshman Ben Kinkade will round out the championship roster.
