The Notre Dame Competitive Cheer team placed first at the MHSAA District competition held at Yale High School. The gym was packed with Notre Dame fans, parents, students and alumni cheering the Irish to a big victory.
Notre Dame started with a remarkable round one, scoring a 238.2, representing the highest round one score reported by any school the entire season and placing them on top after the opening round. Rival Richmond landed in second with a score of 237.8 and Armada in third with a 227.9.
The Irish moved second overall after round two earning an excellent score of 232.08 for a subtotal of 470.28, but slightly behind Richmond, who had a round two score of 232.6 and subtotal of 464.20.
Notre Dame closed out the evening with a round three score of 317 and a grand total 787.28. Both Notre Dame and Richmond struggled with minor stunt challenges, but the score was enough to move the needle slightly past Richmond’s grand total of 787.20 to secure first place and the District Title. Croswell-Lexington locked in 3rd place with a total of 762.38 and Armada earned 4th with a total of 768.10.
