Notre Dame Shuts Out Troy Athens

The Notre Dame Varsity Football team closed regular season play with a 38-0 win at Troy Athens.

Connor Gaeschke helped give the Irish a 14-0 advantage after one quarter of play, scoring on touchdown runs of 57 yards and three yards. In the second quarter, Jacob Bendtsen hit Clayton Bone for a 48-yard touchdown pass and Bendtsen would later add a 74-yard score on the ground. A 26-yard field goal by Julian Lee would round out the first half offense as the Irish took a 31-0 lead into the break.

In the third quarter, Gaeschke would score once again, this time from 46 yards out to finish out the scoring for Notre Dame.

Gaeschke finished the evening with 15 carries for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Bendtsen threw for 176 yards while adding 82 rushing yards, scoring both through the air and on the ground. Bone caught seven passes for 101 yards and a touchdown and had an interception on the defensive side of the ball.

The Irish finish the regular season at 8-1 and will host North Branch in the opening round of the MHSAA Division Four playoffs.
