Notre Dame Hosts Homecoming 5K

The Notre Dame Cross Country team hosted alumni, parents and friends in the 6th annual Homecoming 5k Fun Run, along with the cheer team who provided spirit and moral support for the runners.

The course was a two loop course that began on Giddings road, near the lower school, traveled toward Perry, turned back, circled the main campus, passing the greenhouse, outdoor learning centers and robotics courtyard before returning to Giddings and back to the lower school. It was a beautiful day, with temperatures in the mid 70’s at race time. Medals were given to the top two finishers in each age group and cider and donuts were available for all after the race.

Thomas Preiss, a local runner, was the overall winner with a time of 17:51. Eli Seitzinger was the second overall finisher and top finisher in the highly competitive 15-17 age group with a time of 18:43.

Jenny Ohlsson was the top female for the race and the top finisher in the 18-25 age group with a time of 19:16. Lexi Fraser (21:42) and Allie Dawiedczyk (22:43) finished first and second in the 15-17 female age group.

Parents Ray Mylenek, Tom Bennett and Lorri DeAngelis and assistant cross country coach, alum parent and Notre Dame High School alum Stan Guest (’80) were among the age group winners.
