The Notre Dame Varsity Football team traveled to Muskegon Catholic Central and picked up a 21-7 win over the Crusaders.
Early in the first quarter, a Jacob Bendtsen interception gave Notre Dame the ball on the MCC 10-yard line and River Shea would give the Irish a 7-0 lead with a seven yard touchdown run. Later in the quarter, Shea would hit Michael Winiarski with a 10-yard touchdown pass to give Notre Dame a 14-0 lead. Muskegon CC would respond with a 30-yard rushing touchdown just before the half to cut the lead to 14-7.
In the third quarter, Bendtsen and Alex Sigfried would both come up with interceptions as the Irish defense controlled field position and Shea would cap off the scoring with a six-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Connor Gaeschke carried 17 times for 90 yards in the win while Shea finished with 34 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries and was 10 of 16 passing for 77 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Alex Whalen recorded seven tackles, Nick Pollack added six and Caleb Webb also had an interception for the Irish.
