In its first ever regional appearance, NDP battled but fell short, 2-0 against St. Claire on Saturday in Richmond. The predicted pitchers duel was all it was set up to be, as St. Clair's ace Jared Tobey and Notre Dame Prep's ace Will Mullen went pitch for pitch through the first four innings. In the top of the fourth, St Clair threatened but NDP appeared to have some momentum after left fielder Danny Hogan gunned the potential lead run with a fine throw to the plate to end the inning. St Clair was not be denied, as they took advantage of some Irish defensive miscues in the fifth to push across the game's only runs. Mullen was every bit as good, working six and a third innings and giving up just the two unearned runs. Closer Joey Vyskocil came on to get the final two outs in the seventh. NDP coach Darren Audia applauded his players after the game calling the group the "the finest team in Notre Dame Prep Baseball history." The Irish finish 26-12 with a Catholic League Championship runner-up and the school's first ever baseball district title among its accomplishments. The Irish ended the season as the Number 3 ranked team in Division II in Michigan.
