Notre Dame Bowler Michaella Merlo finished as the runner-up at the MHSAA State Individual Finals over the weekend.
Merlo finished with a pin total of 1105 through the six-game qualifying round, earning the 14th seed and advancing to the playoff round. Merlo then topped the 3rd seed Jordan Carroll from New Boston Huron (328-304), 6th seed Amber Doust from Gaylord (338-330), and 10th seed Makayla Lancioni (426-406) to reach the final. Angela Meadows from Taylor Kennedy took the championship match over Merlo, 421-280.
Merlo’s finish in the best in Notre Dame school history by a bowler.
