The Notre Dame Girls Varsity Basketball team took its second consecutive MHSAA District title with a 71-59 win over Detroit Country Day. Just two weeks prior the Irish fell to the Yellow Jackets by 33 points and had never earned a playoff win over Country Day before Friday evening.
After ending the first quarter tied at 21-21, the Irish jumped out to a 34-29 lead at halftime before extending the lead to 52-41 after three quarters.
The Irish were led by Sarah Stuart with 24 points, including five three-point baskets. Elena Schwegman had 15 points, and Malorie Wilson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Senior Bridget Hauck added five of her seven points in the fourth quarter.
Notre Dame now advances to play Croswell-Lexington on Monday March 11 starting at 7:00 at Detroit Country Day.
