For only the second time in school history, the Notre Dame Equestrian team advanced to the state finals after a cold and wet regional championship. The three day event in Mason saw the top teams in the area battle in multiple disciplines.
The Irish led after day one with Colette Bockrath earning two first place rankings in equitation over fences and Cara DeFelice earning two first place rankings in trail.
On the second day of the event, Maegan Fitzgerald, Olivia Urban, Kendall Lance, and Grace Parker all scored valuable points for the Irish who maintained a slim lead heading into the final day.
In the end, Notre Dame would end up as Regional Reserve Champions finishing just behind Mason who made a strong run in the last few events. Fitzgerald led the Irish with an overall total of 108 points followed closely by DeFelice with 107 points.
The Irish riders will head to Midland October 11th through 15th for the state finals.
