IRISH EQUESTRIAN IN REGIONALS THIS WEEKEND AFTER CLAIMING DISTRICT TITLE

The Notre Dame equestrian team is competing this weekend at the regionals at the Ingham County Fairgrounds in Mason after taking home a district championship last weekend, finishing with 473 total points to top Imlay City and Lake Orion.

The Irish took home first and second place last weekend to finish in the majority of the events to maintain their season-long lead in the district. Margaret Henige and her horse, Lyla, took first place in western showmanship, saddleseat showmanship, western riding, and both days in trail. Jane Gemellaro, riding her horse, Carly, took first twice in equitation over fences and first and second in huntseat bareback. Gemellaro and her second horse, Oreo, also competed in the speed events maintaining placings to gain the points needed to keep the team ahead in the standings. Sophie Shick and Patches were undefeated in saddleseat equitation, saddleseat pattern, saddleseat bareback, huntseat equitation, and western equitation.
