Irish Earn Several State Cuts at Oakland County Meet

The Notre Dame Girls Varsity Swim team placed 13th at the Oakland County Championship meet held at Lake Orion High School. Every Irish swimmer posted season-best times with many posting personal bests.

Allison Healy crushed her 50 Free best times with a 27.05 and 26.42 and then came back and broke a minute in the 100 Free with a 59.67. Bella Vecchio had a 26.39 split and 1:00.33 time in the 100 Free. Libby Stacey had a strong day, swimming several season-best times and leading off all three relays for Notre Dame to help the Irish earn relay state cuts in each of the events.

In the 200 Free Relay the Irish dropped seven seconds to qualify for the Division Three State Finals with a time of 1:45.98. Josi Honnoway had a personal-best and beat her state time from last season with a 1:10.53 in the 100 Breaststroke.

Alina Stanczak helped the Irish qualify for the state finals in the 200 Medley Relay with a strong performance in the lead leg. Stanczak then placed seventh in the 50 Free to earn All-County honors with a time of 24.56, making her All-County with a blistering time of 24.56. Stanczak then took third in the 100 Backstroke with a lifetime best 58.52 and finished the day by anchoring the 400 Free Relay with a 53.46.
