Golf Takes 6th at State Finals

The Notre Dame Boys Varsity Golf team placed sixed at the MHSAA Division Two State Finals tournament held at Bedford Valley Golf Course over the weekend.

The Irish led the tournament following the first day of play, shooting a team score of 300 to lead second-place East Grand Rapids by a single stroke. Brockton English finished with a 73 to lead the Irish, who also received top scores from Jack Williams (74), Nick Batchynsky (76) and Toby Roth (77).

The second day, which was originally slated to begin at 9:00 did not end up teeing off until 3:00 due to weather conditions. Notre Dame finished with a team score of 316, good enough to earn the Irish a top-10 placement for the third consecutive year.  The Irish were led by Batchynsky (74), English (78), Josh Montpas (81) and Williams (83).

Flint Powers finished as the overall tournament champion with a team score of 600 followed by Forest Hills Northern (603) and East Grand Rapids (608).
