Notre Dame defeated Detroit Country Day in straight sets to win their 9th straight district title and 18th title in the last 20 years. The Irish improve to 46-9-5 and advance to the MHSAA regional semi-final round where they will take on Marysville (48-4-2) next Tuesday at Imlay City. Notre Dame had to come from behind to overtake Country Day 25-19 in the first set. Maddy Chinn had 6 of her 14 kills in that opening frame. The second set saw the Irish jump out to an 11-2 lead and never look back as the defense collected 4 blocks. In the final set, the Irish used a varied offense to pull away with a 25-15 victory. Emma Kowalkowski had yet another great performance with 12 points and 14 digs. Caitlin Fitzgerald and Gabby Shilling each added 7 kills. Marisa Ciszewski dished out 20 assists and Natalie Risi was strong on serve receive where she passed 9 while adding 10 digs. Risi also served up 8 points including 3 aces.
