The Notre Dame Boys and Girls Cross Country teams both earned MHSAA Regional championship honors by dominating the podium at Hess Hathaway park in Waterford last Saturday.
The boys placed all five scoring runners in the top 15 to beat very strong teams from Linden and Lake Fenton. James Ohlsson (2nd), John Pieper (3rd), Niko Fraser (5th), Eli Seitzinger (11th) and Josh Fisher (15th) earned All-Region honors in the process. Aaron Crane and Nick Gale rounded out the varsity squad.
The girls had an equally powerful performance, out-pacing Linden and Goodrich to avenge a controversial ruling from last year’s regional championship that prevented the team from competing at states. Jenny Ohlsson (2nd), Lexi Case (3rd), Lauren Neiheisel (6th) and Lexi Fraser (15th) were named All-Region while Emma Wallace, Shannon Lambrecht and Abby Rankin rounded out the varsity squad.
Next up for the Irish is the MHSAA State Championship Invitational held at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) on Saturday, November 4th.
