Cross Country Teams Take 1st at Averill Distance Invite

The Notre Dame Boys and Girls Cross Country teams both finished 1st at the Averill Distance Classic at Kensington’s challenging Possum Hollow course on Saturday.

Junior Lexi Case, sophomore Jenny Ohlsson and senior Lauren Neiheisel led the girls team, finishing first, second and fourth overall with times of 19:50, 20:02 and 20:58 for the 5K race. Freshman Lexi Fraser, senior Abby Rankin and senior Maddie Scherle also medaled for the Irish finishing 10th , 17th and 19th respectively.

Sophomore James Ohlsson, finished 2nd overall for the boys with a time of 17:18 and freshman Eli Seitzinger set a personal record of 18:17 en route to a 7th place finish.  Senior Josh Fisher, junior Mitchell Guest, junior Aaron Crane and sophomore Nick Gale also medaled for the Irish finishing in 9th, 11th, 12th and 15th place. Freshmen boys Adam Martin, Matthias Rangel and Ben Pocius all competed in their first varsity race.  

Next up for the Irish is the highly competitive MSU Spartan Invitation in East Lansing.
