The boys and girls varsity teams both brought home first-place trophies in their respective divisions today in the annual Running Fit High School Coaching Legends Invite at Huron Meadows Metro Park in Brighton.
Girls varsity won the orange division for their first first-place finish of the season. Freshman Lexie Case led a slew of Irish runners and placed fourth overall with a personal record of 21:25. She was followed by freshman Bridgette Joslin at 10th, senior Grace Cummings, 11th, sophomore Claire Seitzinger, 12th, and sophomore Abbie Rankin, 15th.
Boys varsity won the blue division beating out 10 other Division 1 and Division 2 schools. Brendan Fraser (15:36) and Nate Mylenek (15:44) both beat the previous school record of 15:46 set by Chris Burns in 2009. Fraser won the race for his fifth victory of the season and Mylenek finished fifth. Drew Guest (16:40) and Niko Fraser (16:44) finished 12th and 13th overall, both setting PRs. Alex Leonowicz (17:48) rounded out the scoring for the Irish.
