Cheer Takes Regional Title

The Notre Dame Competitive Cheer team earned its ninth consecutive state finals appearance, posting a score of 781.21 and winning another Regional title by placing ahead of the other state qualifiers Richmond, Monroe Jefferson and Flat Rock.  

The Irish came out strong and held on to the 1st place spot from start to finish on Saturday at Flint Kearsley, scoring a 234.0 in the opening round with Monroe Jefferson behind in 2nd by 1 point. Richmond and Armada landed in the 3rd and 4th place slots with scores of 231.90 and 230.6, respectively.  

The Irish widened their lead in Round 2 with a score of 229.12 and a subtotal score of 463.12.   Monroe Jefferson maintained 2nd place with a 226.52 (459.52), with Richmond and Armada holding in 3rd and 4th with subtotal scores of 458.2 and 454.54.  

Notre Dame performed a near flawless Round 3, earning a 318.20 to finish at 781.32. Richmond, with a total ending score of 769.10, moved to 2nd place with Monroe Jefferson (767.42) in third place.  Armada struggled in Round 3, scoring a 293.70 and leaving the door open for Flat Rock to post a 311.50 and move into the 4th place slot.

The Irish head to the DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids on Saturday, striving for their fifth consecutive state title.  Notre Dame will compete against the teams from Richmond, Monroe Jefferson, Flat Rock, Charlotte, Lake Odessa Lakewood, Comstock Park, and Escanaba.
