The Notre Dame Varsity Competitive Cheer team was back on Saturday with a win at the Cougar Varsity Invitational hosted by Stoney Creek High School.
The Irish started the afternoon competition with an impressive round one score of 234.7, but 1 point behind rival Richmond. The Notre Dame team continued their top-notch performing in round two posting a score of 228.42. The competition was fierce, though, and the Irish remained in 2nd place after Round 2 when Richmond posted a score of 228.46 to maintain their lead. The Irish came out unstoppable in round three, determined to defend their top position as the reigning state champions. Their performance was their best round 3 yet this year with the help of an impressive number of Irish fans in attendance cheering them on to the end. The result was a Round 3 score of 315.4 and a combined final score of 778.52, good enough to help move Notre Dame ahead of Richmond’s combined final score of 777.76 and into first place.
Notre Dame continues their journey “fighting for four” when they compete at the Sterling Heights Stevenson Invitational this Saturday.
