Both the Notre Dame Girls and Boys Varsity Bowling teams placed 3rd at their MHSAA team regional competitions held at Oak Lanes, marking the first time in school history that both teams have qualified for the state finals.
The Girls shot a team total of 3216, placing behind Warren Woods Tower (3253) and St. Clair Shores Lakeshore (3217) while the Boys finished with a total of 3490, edging Warren Lincoln by 7 pins to grab the final spot.
In the individual regional matches Michaela Merlo became the first Notre Dame girl bowler to make an individual state cut, placing 8th in the tournament with a score of 1021 on the day. On the boys side Jack Swanson barely missed a state cut, placing 14th and just 15 pins off the pace with a score of 1115 while Spencer Beasley was right behind in 15th place.
The MHSAA DII team and individual finals take place this weekend at Super Bowl in Canton.
