The Notre Dame Girls Varsity Bowling team competed against 26 area teams at the Oakland County Bowling Tournament held at Astro Lanes. The tournament format consisted of three regular games and four baker games with the top-16 team advancing to match play.
Theresa Carrier led the Irish with a 195 in the opening game and the Irish got a personal-best 210 from Deirdre Schiefer in the second game to go along with a 187 from Carrier. In the third game Carrier and Schiefer again continued on their strong streak, bowling a 180 and 201 respectfully. Notre Dame then averaged 160 for the baker games, placing the Irish 8th place going into match play.
Notre Dame took on 9th-seeded Clarkston in the opening round. The first baker game was back-and-forth with the Irish falling 26 pins behind. With 27 pins needed to move to the next bracket, Notre Dame stepped up and earned a winning baker game to beat Clarkston in totals by 8 pins and move on.
The next round saw the Irish take on top-seeded Lake Orion. Notre Dame lost the first game and tied the second game, but fell short in totals to move on to the quarter finals.
The Irish finished in the top eight in the county as a team, with Carrier placing 13th and Schiefer placing 15th out of over 135 girls that across all divisions of Oakland County.
