Bone’s Four Touchdowns Lead Irish Over Bears

The Notre Dame Varsity Football team moved to 4-0 on the season following a 50-7 win over Berkley on Homecoming.

The Bears scored the first points of the game, converting a wide receiver pass play for a big gain before scoring a one yard touchdown.

The Irish responded right away as Jacob Bendtsen scored on a 67-yard run on the very next drive. On the next possession, Bendtsen found Clayton Bone for a 43-yard score to give Notre Dame a 14-7 lead. During the ensuring Berkley drive Bone would intercept a pass and return it for 23 yards to extend the Notre Dame lead.

In the second quarter, Bendtsen would hit Ethan Johnson for a 32-yard touchdown and Bone would score his third touchdown on the game, this time on a 59-yard punt return to give the Irish a 34-7 lead at the half.

In the second half, Connor Gaeschke would score on a 41-yard run and Bone would find the end zone for a fourth time, scoring on a 56-yard pass from Ryan Cueny.

On the evening Bendtsen threw for 124 yards and two scores to go along with 89 yards on the ground. Bone led all receivers with 135 yards and two touchdowns while adding in a punt return and interception return for scores. The Irish will take on Detroit Leadership, who is also 4-0, next week.
