The Notre Dame Varsity Football team picked up a statement 38-0 road win over Divine Child on Friday evening.
After a scoreless opening quarter, Julian Lee got the Irish on the board early in the second with a 23-yard field goal. The Falcons were unable to get anything going against the Irish defense in the quarter and Notre Dame would take advantage of plus field position to build on the lead before halftime.
Jacob Bendtsen would throw three touchdown passes in the half, one each to Clayton Bone (48 yards), Ethan Johnson (22 yards on a fourth down) and Ryan Cueny (nine yards) to put Notre Dame up 24-0 heading into the break.
The Falcons received the ball to start the third quarter but saw their drive come to an end just over midfield when Evan Noga recovered a fumble. Bendtsen would hit Trevor Tuttle for a 41-yard gain to set up a 17-yard touchdown pass to Connor Gaeschke just a few plays later for the only scoring of the quarter. In the fourth quarter, Bendtsen would set a Notre Dame school record with his fifth touchdown pass of the game, hitting Bone over the middle for a 42-yard score to round out the offense for the game.
In all, Bendsten threw for 235 yards to go along with his five touchdowns while Bone finished with an even 100 receiving yards and two scores. Alex Whalen led the Irish defense with seven tackles as Notre Dame out-gained Divine Child 376-120 in total yardage on the evening.
