Girls Basketball Takes District Title

The Notre Dame Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated Lutheran North 48-33 at home to claim its first District championship since 2011.

The Irish (10-11) came out strong, jumping out to a 9-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Mustangs battled back, however, and took a 17-15 edge into the break. They stretched that lead to seven, but the Irish mounted a methodical comeback to take a 27-24 lead into the last stanza. Notre Dame outscored Lutheran North 21-5 over the final eight minutes.

Irish sophomore Justina Gaynor led all scorers with 11 points. Notre Dame advances to play the Marysville  in the Crosswell-Lexington Regional Semifinal on Tuesday.
