In a showdown between the top-two ranked teams in Class B, Notre Dame Varsity Volleyball prevailed with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-12 win over North Branch in the MHSAA Regional Final round. The 61-2-2 Irish will now advance to the Class B Quarterfinals finals against Corunna.
The Irish only trailed once during the match, 3-2 in the third set. Using a balanced attack Notre Dame kept the Broncos out of their system to win their 9th Regional title since 2002.
Taylor Raiola had 9 points, 2 aces, 10 kills, a block and 10 digs and Gabi Shilling had 6 kills 4 blocks while also drawing coverage from North Branch blockers all evening to open up the court. Morgan Verheyen finished with 11 points, 2 aces 15 kills 1 block and 3 digs, Maddy Chinn had 5 points, an ace, 16 kills, 4 blocks and 9 digs and Natalie Risi added 15 points, 6 aces, 10 kills, a block and 10 digs.
