Girls Ski Takes 2nd at MHSAA Finals

The Notre Dame Girls Varsity Ski team took second overall at the MHSAA DII State Finals meet held at Boyne Highlands on Monday.  The Irish finished with a point total of 108.5 on the day, placing just behind champion Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central who scored a 105.  

Notre Dame took first in the Slalom race behind the strong performances of Sydney Lintol (5th), KC Kennedy (11th), Katelyn Kozole (16th) and Julia Jenaway (25th) before placing 3rd in the Giant Slalom race. Lintol (6th), Kennedy (9th), Meghan Kozole (16th), and Sophia Gunterman (20th) scored for the Irish while Jenaway also added a 21st place finish.  

The Boys team finished 9th in the state, taking 8th in the Slalom (126.5) and 9th in the Giant Slalom (111) for a total score of 237.5.

The Irish were led by Nicholas Schulte (19th), Mitchell Ballew (23rd), Kyle Colburn (38th), and Noah Schindler (46th) in the Slalom and Joey Warsecke (11th), Ballew (30th), Schindler (34th), and Ryan Hoeppner (36th) in the Giant Slalom.

Petoskey High School took the Boys Division II state championship with a team score of 61 points.
