Soccer Goes 3-0, Takes Annual Tournament

The Notre Dame Boys Varsity Soccer team took their annual tournament with Flushing, Frankenmuth, and Birmingham Groves over the weekend, going 3-0 on the day.

The Irish started off the day with a 2-0 win over Flushing. Scoring for Notre Dame were Will Grubbs (on a penalty kick) and Tiernan O’Brien (assisted by Brian Blakeslee) while goalkeeper Andrew DeLave made 2 stops to earn the shutout.

The Irish defeated Frankenmuth once again by a 2-0 score in their second game of the day.  Peter Kochanski and Colin Petchul scored for  Notre Dame while Nick Evans and Mitch Morisette added assists.

The final match of the day featured Notre Dame and Birmingham Groves, who both entered the game 2-0 in the tournament. Grubbs would convert his second penalty kick of the day and Nolan Mylenek would add a goal as the Irish held on for a 2-1 win to take the tournament. DeLave recorded 2 shutouts and added 3 wins in net for the tournament.
