It was a tale of two halves on Friday night as Notre Dame earned a 35-25 win at Dearborn Divine Child to improve to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the CHSL AA Division. The Falcons jumped out to a 19-7 lead in the first half led by quarterback Jimmy Seewald threw for 262 yards and two touchdown passes. However, the second half was a completely different story as the Irish would score 28 unanswered points before a late DC touchdown. Patrick Anger took the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter 66 yards on a jet sweep to put the Irish within five. Anger finished with 106 yards on the evening. On the next drive Luke Adams scored from 48 yards out and Notre Dame would add a two-point conversion to put the Irish up 22-19, a lead they would not relinquish. The defense, led by Mitch Woodrich with three sacks and David Pohlman with two sacks, continued to put pressure on Seewald and the Divine Child offense in the second half. Matt Durkin added a 26-yard touchdown on a 4th-and-5 play late in the third quarter and Ryan Knutson rounded out the scoring with a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Durkin finished 7 for 17 for 100 yards and a passing touchdown with 45 yards and a score on the ground. Adams carried the ball 15 times for 162 yards and a TD. After a big first half Seewald ended the evening with 332 yards and three touchdowns on 26-of-52 passing and was hit 19 times by the Notre Dame defense. The Irish will continue league play on Friday as they host defending CHSL AA and MHSAA Division 7 champion Detroit Loyola, who is coming off of a 43-7 win over Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard.
