Notre Dame Takes Third at SMISL Meet

The Notre Dame Girls Varsity Swim team placed third at the SMISL Championship meet held at Groves High School, finishing behind much larger teams in Temperance Bedford and Detroit Country Day.

Alina Stanczak earned first place finishes in the 50 Free and 100 Free while Josi Honoway placed first in the 100 Breaststroke. Bella Vecchio came in second in the 100 Backstroke for the Irish while Libby Stacey was second in the 100 Freestyle, Aria Kim was second in the 100 Butterfly, and Elizabeth Gruden was second in the 200 Freestyle. Honoway also took third in the 200 IM and Grace Linenfelser was third in the 500 Freestyle.

In Relay events, the 400 Freestyle team of Stacey, Gruden, Kasia Bennett and Stanczak earned a first place finish, the 200 Freestyle team of Stacey, Honoway, Gruden and Bennett took second and the 200 Medley team of Stanczak, Honoway, Kim, and Allison Healy also placed second.

Notre Dame will now send Vecchio, Healy, Stacey, Bennett, Honoway, Gruden, Stanczak and Alex Williams to the MHSAA Division Three State Finals meet taking place this upcoming weekend at Oakland University.
