Equestrian Eyes Return Trip to Regionals

Once again in Armada, the Notre Dame Equestrian team looked to back up the strong performance from District meet one. The Irish started strong in the morning events and held a lead over Oxford late in the day. Unfortunately, Oxford pulled away at the end and the Irish had to settle for another second place finish.

The final scores for the day were Oxford 214, Notre Dame 178, Lake Orion 106 and Lapeer (94). With two of three district events completed, both Notre Dame and Oxford look to be in great shape to advance to the Regional level.

Kendall Lance led the Irish with 55 points highlighted by first place finishes in Saddle Seat Fitting and Showing, Hunt Seat Fitting and Showing, and Western Riding. Grace Parker brought in 35 points for the team including first place finishes in Saddle Seat Bareback and Hunt Seat Over Fences. Cara DeFelice contributed 27 points while scoring in six different classes. Olivia Urban thrilled the Notre Dame fans with a second place finish in pole bending while scoring 25 points. Collette Bockrath, Madison Fraser, and Lilly Urban rounding out the scoring for the Irish. Notre Dame also has two non-riders in senior Megan Fitzgerald and freshman Bella Gates. Both were invaluable throughout the day offering support to their team members and coaches when needed.

District meet number three will take place this weekend as Notre Dame works towards back to back trips to the State Finals.
