Irish Sweep North Branch for Regional Title

Notre Dame Varsity Volleyball, ranked second in division two, defeated fourth-ranked North Branch 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 to win their second straight regional title and advance to the MHSAA quarterfinals. The Irish (62-5) hit .502 as a team to top a very strong Bronco team led by Miss Volleyball candidate Allyson Severance and have now won 52 straight matches overall.

Notre Dame’s Miss Volleyball finalists Maddy Chinn put down 23 kills, collected a pair of blocks and had 19 digs while Natalie Risi served up eight points, an ace, 19 kills, four blocks and 15 digs. Senior Maria Famularo had another outstanding game with seven kills, 26 assists and eight digs.  Aly Borellis added six points, nine kills, 16 assists and nine digs while Libero Olivia Kowalkowski kicked in 10 digs.

Notre Dame now advances to the MHSAA quarterfinal at Goodrich on Tuesday where they will take on Detroit Communication School for Media and Arts.
