Staskowski Takes Third Title, Irish Place 5th

The Notre Dame Girls Golf team placed 5th out of 18 schools at the MHSAA Division Three State Finals held at Michigan State University’s Forest Akers East over the weekend. The Irish were in 7th place following Friday’s round, shooting a 369, before finishing on Saturday with a 356 for a cumulative total score of 725.

Senior Dani Staskowski played through heavy winds, rain, and hail to fire a 76 both days and earn her third individual state title, defeating Flint Power’s Jolie Brochu in a one-hole playoff. Staskowski becomes just the third golfer in MHSAA history to win three individual state titles, two of which came by the way of one-hole playoff victories.

Sabrina Fitzgerald (91-97), Rachel Rook (101-89), Malorie Wilson (101-94) and Julia Wintermantel (101-97) also contributed to the Irish scoring effort.

Flint Powers took the overall team title besting the field with a 659 over both days.
