Runners Continue Success at Averill Classic

The Notre Dame Girls Cross Country team continued their streak of podium finishes by winning the Averill Distance Classic at the challenging Kensington Metropark (Possum Hollow) course. The Irish previously finished runner-up in their first two meets, the Michigan Catholic Invite and the Oakland Grizzly HS Invitational.  

Lexi Case was the overall winner with a time of 19:45. Jenny Ohlsson finished runner-up with a time of 19:57. Lexi Fraser (4th), Shannon Lambrecht (8th), KC Kennedy (10th) rounded out the scoring for the Irish who crushed the field with a low score of 25 points. Livonia Stevenson finished 2nd with 75 points. Freshman Tess Censoni (16th) and Katie Heaman (17th) both earned medals in their first varsity race of the year.

The boys team placed 6th despite missing two varsity runners due to the ACT and injury.  James Ohlsson won the race with a time of 17:12. Eli Seitzinger came in 17th, also medaling for the Irish, with a time of 18:54. Nate Vogel (19:18), Adam Martin (20:02) and Eric Gaynor (20:41) rounded out the scoring for the Irish.

Next up for Notre Dame is the highly competitive MSU Spartan Invitational, where the Irish will be competing in the Spartan Elite division.
